Just to let you know what is happening. The Family History Centre phone numbers you gave me all look to be correct with the exception of one which gives a Newcastle number as 01207 284708. Newcastle has an 0191 dialling code.
I have rang all the other numbers on countless occasions and not once has anyone answered.
The Ashington number has an answer machine and I rang and left a message but nobody has been in touch.
My next move is to visit the addresses of the centres but I do not expect anyone to be in or the door to be answered.
The Ashington building is surrounded by a steel fence and there does not look to be any access to the main door.

I question just how sensible an idea it was to install a telephone in all the Family History Centres and then not pick it up when it rings.

I would be pleased to know how others have got round this problem, but for the moment, The Mormon Church has lost all credibility as far as I am concerned.
