I have recently visited IOM and have become very interested in my ancestors. I've looked at the 1851 census and found Robert Corkhill b1807 as head of family with wife Cathrine. Children are Robert b1835, Thomas b 1842, Dorothy 1844, Judith 1847 and Jane 1849.
Later they went to the mainland, around the Liverpool area and eventually settled in Whitehaven.
Robert seems to have been my G G Grandfather. I would be thrilled to know anything about the family at any time in their history, particularly pre-1851.
