JOUGHIN / KERMODE / KILLIP Braddan/Douglas
In Response To: Re: KILLIP Douglas ()

Philip, these are the bapt entries in the IGI (extracted from the parish reg.) for children of John Kermode & Isabella Joughin, who married 21 OCT 1848 Braddan - apparently the day before John was bapt!

JOHN THOS KERMODE Christening: 22 OCT 1848 Kirk German
GEORGE KERMODE Christening: 07 APR 1850 Braddan
JANE MARIA KERMODE Christening: 15 FEB 1852 Braddan.
MARY ANN KERMODE Christening: 12 FEB 1854 Braddan [a Church member has added that she died 21 FEB 1934]
ALLEN KERMODE Christening: 23 SEP 1855 Braddan [burial aged 2, Braddan, 11 Jan 1858]
GEORGINA KERMODE Christening: 03 MAY 1858 Saint Barnabas, Douglas [father John Kermode, mother's name only Isabella].

John KERMODE, 32, was buried Braddan 14 Dec 1856, so if Georgina was Isabella's baby perhaps she was really Killip. Isabella Kermode & James Killip married 16 Nov. 1858 Braddan.

I think that the JAMES KILLIP Master Mariner who was drowned at sea November 1st 1870 aged 45 years, buried with his wife MARY ANN who died on May 1st 1883 aged 59 years, was possibly the husband of Mary Ann WELSH whom he married in 1857, and if so he can't have been Isabella's husband.

I can't place his son THOMAS KILLIP drowned at sea November 1881 aged 32 years [illegitimate?].
