Yes, "You should have asked when X was alive," is a familiar refrain, and I kick myself that I did not ask my mother a lot more questions. Because a lot of stories were repeated to me many times, I CAN recall a lot of stuff, but she would have known so many other things, and she would have known the 1900s relationships of cousins and so on, that I do not know.
