Re: Brew / JOUGHIN Andreas
In Response To: Re: Brew / JOUGHIN Andreas ()

Hello, Robert.

Apologies for a tardy response. Looking at your third paragraph, the parentage of your great-great-grandfather John Joughin has perplexed me too. As you say, there is no trace of Philip Joughin (husband of Christian Lace) having a son by that name. In your message of 7 March at 11.13 in the Joughin Family thread you give two possible baptism dates, in 1803 and 1804. Although there was some discussion of these, no one has told us what those entries state. Could you, or anyone else, give the text of the entries?

My print of the IGI does not show either, unless the spelling is very garbled. This print is on microfiche, and was sold to me by the IoMFHS for the bargain price of £2 on the basis that all subsequent editions would be electronic only. It is very deficient where Joughins in German are concerned.

Have you noticed that the mother of this Philip’s children is somewhat uncertain in the Andreas baptisms? Only Dorathy (1798) has the mother Christian Lace. The mother of Jane (1793) is Christian Vondy. Ann and Mary (who married Thomas, son of the other Philip Joughin of Peel) have no mother.
