Robert Edward Cain 1850-1894
In Response To: Re: The Builder Caines ()

Frances, I've dug around a bit and can't find any connection. Scaddan's an unusual surname to find on the IOM, isn't it ?

Donna, you wrote:

I don't see them in the 1881 census and don't find Robert James in the IGI so I'm not certain who is mother was.
By 1891 RE is married to Anna Siddon who is the mother of Mary Christian, Elisie May, Alice Louisa who we find in the 1891 Census
There is another son Ernest Arthur 19 (1872)who was b England so maybe he & RJ have the same mother?? "

It turns out that the Ernest Arthur Cain age 19 , builder's clerk, born Liverpool, is a nephew, not a son, of Robert Edward Cain in the 1891 census. So, since the eldest child listed in the household is Robert James Cain age 14, and since REC married Anna Scaddan in Liverpool in 1875, I suspect that we don't need to look for any earlier marriage. Incidentally, is "Liverpool 1837-1934" a Registry Office ?

If anyone happens to know how to contact Frances Clarkson, could you let her know that I have some nice photos of Eleanor Maud Clegg nee Cain 1863-1943 ( who was a younger sister of Frances' great grandfather, Robert Edward Cain ) if she's interested in seeing them.
