I think that this is Robert J Cain in 1891:

and this is one of his sisters:

CAIN Mary Christian 1 Onc 4686 101 97

Their father is Robert Edward Cain age 41, builder / contractor of "Hillcrest", Alexandra Drive.

So could this Mary Cain be the one who married John Kneen Costain b 1876, son of Richard Costain 1839-1902? This would give a neat solution to the question of the "cousins connection between Maj Robert Cain abd Richard Costain" described by 2 people earlier in this thread.
