Re: images from parish registers

this is what I generally refer to as the 1911 copy ie 'Official Copy' as noted at top of page - the church would have the 'original' register (which is it seems the one with the patterned border) (post 1847 there must have been 2 registers kept, one kept at the church and a 2nd by the Rolls office which copy was done by calling in all registers c.1911 and copying them - post c.1877 the baptismal registers were strictly not required as civil birth registration was in place but as England introduced old age pensions around 1911 this official copy of a baptism was needed to back up any pension in England and post WW1 on Island) - the old IGI films done in 1944 were of the official copy and until recently were the only parish 'registers' the Museum had access to (the new digitised images were only possible as all parish registers prior to a certain date were called in a few years ago and filmed - for many the Museum kept hold of them as the parish felt the museum storeage was better than a damp safe for the registers no longer in current use, tho a couple of parishes Lezayre + Patrick had parish councils who wanted all registers returned tho I know in one of these the vicar wanted them kept at Museum)
