The current Gelling thread reminded me of this thread which continues into Gelling the schoolmaster territory.
My meagre contribution to bring this thread to light is an entry from Braddan baptisms for the first child of John Gelling & Isabel Cavendish, which is the illegitimate Mary, not John. I think Eric Gelling refered to this earlier:
