Re: William CAIN born 1827 Douglas

Wow i keep reading all these threads and my head is spinning!
I didnt mention the 71 census in my original posint as i did not know how accurate it was . Selenas name is incorrect and she has her birth as being in Liverpool and i know it was STaffordshire. It also took a good few years off her age although in all census' that is not reliable.
From all the contenders we have now for Williams parents i agree with you sue we have to discount the ones showing William still at home in 51 as he definately married in 48. The philip and MAry that Jean kindly posted info for do not show William there in 51. IS that correct. I do not seem to beable to pull up the census records.
Apart from him i guess we are back to the Mattias cains. There are so many threads for them it will take me a while to organise them and the dates. Either way as i see it there is no certainty for any of them unless i can find a will listing dependants that clearly mention William and Selena or there children. Would you agree? One thing is certain he didnt make it easy by not naming his kids after his father. Im also curious as to why there are now so many MAtthias. Where does that originate from - it sounds foreign. Im not to well versed in Isle of Man history - another task for my to do list.
Once again many thanks to you all for your help
