This is the last will and testament of me Philip Cain of the Saddle in the
town of Douglas and Sarah Cain otherwise Creer my wife made this seventh day
of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six
being of sound mind memory and understanding at the
making hereof.
We give devise and bequeath unto the survivor or longest liver of us the
said Philip Caine and Sarah Cain all and singular the one half of those
two houses situated in Factory Lane one of the said Houses being a
corner one front opposite Duke Street and the other opposite Factory Lane
and the other said houses adjoining the said houses in Factory Lane. Also
all and singular all the household furniture, plate, wines, and
personal property and chattels of whatsoever description the same may be
that we may be possessed of at the time of the death of the first one of us
together with all moneys notes bonds and securities for moneys and all the
requisites necessary for carrying on the business of an Inn Keeper and
Livery Stable and Coach establishment as at present carried on by
us.
And upon the decease of the survivor of us the said Philip Cain and Sarah
Cain we give devise and bequeath the said one half of the said two
dwelling houses and the whole and every part of all the goods and
effects household furniture notes moneys and every other personal property
to us belonging unto and amongst the whole of our children to
be equally divided amongst them share and share alike.
We give devise and bequeath to all persons claiming any right under this our
last joint will and testament the sum of one shilling legacy.
We do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the survivor of us
executor or executrix of this our last joint will and testament and
residuary legatee of all the rest residue and remainder of all our
property of whatever, description and whereof the same maybe and we
do hereby revoke all other wills by us or either of us at any time
heretofore made. And do hereby declare this paper writing to be as and for
our last joint will and testament.
In witness whereof we have hereunto signed our names this day and year first
before written.
