Frances, you wrote that you provisionally identified Jackie's William b.c.1827 as c/o Matthias Cain + Margret Quark, and that William was living with his widowed father Matt and sister May in the Wellington Buildings in Douglas in 1841. Please explain when Matt was widowed, and how you know May was William's sister (and do you mean not May but Margt Cain aged 25)? Margt daur of Mats Cain & Margt Quirk bap 5 Mar 1811 Saint Mathews, Douglas, who would have been 30 in 1841. There are so many William Cains living in Douglas of around his age, or rounded to aged 15, or living elsewhere on the tail end of a family indicating a servant who could have been born anywhere, that you must have other reasons to suggest that Matt and Margaret Quark were his parents?
