You have stated the facts very well Sue. I have visited the Island on three occasions - initially to visit my father's birthplace and see the cottage where he lived with my grandparents - then subsequent trips, which included many days at the Manx Museum, searching the records.
You can only spend so much time in front of the computer screen and there is so much more to see and experience of the Island, before heading away again.
For us 'Manx Homecomers' living in New Zealand, the distances to travel are far and the costs are enormous and this won't get any better. To be able to search the records online for a fee, would be well utilized I'm sure.
If I am fortunate enough to be able to visit again, it will be to explore all the wonderful things I have missed previously.
