Hi, Has anyone come across the marriage of John Thomas Radcliffe to Mary Jane Shimmin?
I guess for some reason he left IOM for Liverpool - he was helping his grandfather on his farm; was a police constable for a number of years there, then retired back to the IOM with wife and at least 2 of his daughters.
I have a photograph of the pair in their one horse "Liverpool Gig" at Regaby Veg taken I guess in about 1911 when they were in their 60's.
Mary Jane Shimmin is not the one aged 7 in the 1861 IOM census, and I believe she was illegitimate, but of course have been unable to find more. Calculating from census records she was born in 1848 but there seems to be no baptism record anywhere.
Has anyone (perhaps Sue?) pieced together their full story? Kind regards - Bernard Diaz
