While surfing the net I came across this site and with some excitement discovered a connection. Richard Charnley 1802 was my 4-5x g grandmother's sibling (Mary b 1811). Richard's son Richard (b 1839) married Mary's daughter Lillias Pernie in 1854. This would make Thomas, Pete Charnley's relative, Lillias's brother in law. In other words Pete is a distant relative of mine. I know little about Piel Island and hope that someone can enlighten me about the Old Customs House. I believe Richard Senior was a pilot while living on Piel Islandl. Is this correct?
