Would this area be closely settled so that someone could state that they had seen the son?
Being Australian I am more used to farms being hundreds or thousands of hectares up to thousands of square kilometers so next door can be a long way away.
Would the home be still standing?
Also would the "Ivy Cottage" be still there?
