Hi Liz, you will see that Frances has kindly given me some pointers, for which I thank her.

The 1841 Census lists a William WATERSON and his family at "Strand Quarter of De (I think it is De). He was listed as a farmer however I cannot decipher the name of the farm, perhaps a Manx person could. To find this may not be simple, nor a reasonable thing to ask.
Frances also pointed me to the possible hotel run by the Cains as being the IVY COTTAGE TAVERN described in the Manx Sun 4 July 1834 as inter alia "..about a mile from Douglas on the Castletown Road...". This may be more identifiable although in over 170 years it is likely to have been altered or rebuilt, if the location is still even a pub.
If you can find a photograph, or take one for me Liz I would be most appreciative.
