Thanks again for your efforts, Jean. I haven't seen the father's name given in the margin, but he was often named at the baptism. The IGI record includes his name when given, even though they (usually wrongly) list the baby under the mother's surname. In the ones I've seen, the baby usually just has a forename given at baptism, not linked to either parents' surname, and is later known by the father's surname.

One possibility for finding Emily Morrison's father would be to look at the Presentments in the MM to see whether he was obliged to support the child. (Or presumably his family if the father was dead.) Interesting that mother Ann was living near Robert Joughin.
I still have the feeling that Margaret could have been her mother - there is something odd about her marriage to James Joughin.
