What are the chances that there was more than one John Christian, hatter ? This surely has to be the John Christian whose name Margaret Christian gave as her father when she married James Joughin in 1858. JC gave his marital status as "unmarried" in the 1851 and 1861 censuses, so for some reason he didn't marry Margaret's mother, whose name remains a mystery.
There's a Maughold 1861 John Christian will in Brian Lawson's list which might be his.....
