Thank you for that information. I really must fathom out how to use Findmypast.com. The question is, have you found the marriage of Emily Joughin b 1831 Braddan, or might this be another Emily Joughin (perhaps the one who's the 18yr old servant in 1861 Liverpool )

In 1881 (Lancashire, Everton 30/33) , there's a 38yr old Emily Johns, visitor, married, b IOM, but she isn't accompanied by her husband. If this is the Emily Johns als Joughin, then her age matches her to the 18yr old servant in 1861.

I'll see if she turns up in any other censuses.
