Not sure if I need to open a new thread, but this is still kind of linked to Theodore in a round about way. Let me know if it is easier to open a new thread.
I am trying to piece together the life of Lavinia Wood to try and work out more about her and where she grew up etc - Theodores potential mother.
Looking through the census reports, I noticed that her mother Caroline Crook (nee Richards) lived at the Saddle Inn with her husband John Crook
They married in the IoM in 19 Nov 1887, both stated as widowed.
John Crook died 1898
I have seen a Probate record which indicates that he left everything to his widow Alice. This was his previous wife, prior to Caroline. It is mentioned that he was Beer-House Keeper, 109 Bolton Road, Westhoughton, Lancashire. This ties up with his previous census occupations, in IoM being at Saddle Inn and prior to this 1881 (when married to Alice) a Brewers Labourer
I thought Alice had died, but I can see an Alice Crook on a 1911, aged 77 (right age), widowed and living with her family.
I can see John Crook named in IoM on the list of pubs. But would there be any clue as to what happened to him and Caroline? Caroline is still on the IoM census 1901 with Lavinia.
Could it be that he was a bigamist? I am a little confused again!!
