I have just ordered the BC from GRO - did it Priority as I am too intrigued (and excited!) to wait too long! Thank you for all the in-depth information, really interesting. I am looking forward to finding out what the certificate shows and hopefully like you say, it does show a "home" address and the mothers name.
JC, my thought process purely around the entry on the death register may have been that Theodore was not traced after being born - not to say that he wasn't alive, as he appears on the the IOM census in 1901.....if it is the same individual.
However, I'm unsure of how records were dealt with and if there was any uncertainty over where the baby was would the authorities simply have marked him as someone who had "died" if he was had been born, but then not showing on any further census reports in that area in 1901.
Question is - how did little 3 month old Theodore find his way to IOM??!!
I feel like a small scratch of the surface has been made, but I am intrigued hugely by the Holroyds
