Hello David

I’m afraid that I’d jumped to the conclusion (wrongly) that the 1891 census James E Callister 25 b Laxey and the Alfred Callister 19 b Ramsey were probably cousins because of the 2 different parishes. So it’s good that you’ve found the William Callister/Jane Kermeen family with children born in both Laxey and Ramsey. It’s a mystery that there doesn’t seem to be a baptism for Robert Callister b Jan/Feb 1871, nor for an Alfred Callister.

Do you think that it’s possible that William and Jane acted as informal adoptive parents for a baby/babies whose mother had died in childbirth or through some other tragic circumstances ?
