Gob ny Scuit - Hibernian Inn *PIC*
In Response To: Maughold 2 *PIC* ()

This map is not a very good map as it does not show Bwoailee Losht at all. I did notice that it does show a spot for "Gob ny Scuit", but that location seems to be out of place. The Hibernian Inn, owned by John Looney and his wife, Rachel Redhead, is known to have been located on the road to Ramsey. This Road today is the A-2 and the little road that runs to the west off of it is known as the Hibernian road. The Hibernian Inn was most likely built on the Gob ny Scuit property that John Looney had inherited from his father, John Looney Sr. who had in turn had inherited from his parents, John Looney and Margaret Kelvy. I am attaching a clip from another larger map of Maughold Parish which shows the properties, Balligilley, Gob ny Scuit (not specifically identified) and Magher-y-Kew (Magher E Kew). This map is turned to the right and north would be to the right.

As you can see there is no place for Gob ny Scuit between the Magher y Kew property and Ballaglass that would provide for Gob ny Scuit where the Hibernian Inn was located. We also know that the Hibernain Inn was located along the road in what appears to be Intack lands associated with Magher E Kew. The Hibernian Inn is most likely located within that block identified as 126, adjacent to the road (now A2) between Ballegilley on its north (right) and Magher E Kew on its south (left). If the Hibernian Inn was built on part of Gob ny Scuit as I believe it was, then we can now locate that property at map coordinates
