The plot thickens - what a surprise !!!!
Would they be church bretheren or something like that - why would Patrick Cannell and wife Mary Caley call John Caine their brother.
I swear they are making things as difficlult as possible.

Any suggestions gratefully received !!!!

Michael 23 Patrick Cannell to John Caine - - - Sale
Know all men by these Presents that I Patrick Cannell of Koan-droghead in the Parish of Kk Michael with the full & free consent and approbation of my wife Mary Cannell alias Caley testified by her signing and due execution of these Presents divers good Causes and Reasons us hereunto moving, but chiefly & more especially for & in Consideration of the full & just sum of Forty six pounds of good and lawful money, according to the currency of this Isle, at from & by the hands of our brother John Caine of the said Parish. Have given granted bargained alienated and sold and by these Presents do Give, Grant, Bargain, Alienate and forever absolutely Sell all the Right Title and Interest that we now Have or hereafter may, can or ought to Have, in and to a certain parcel of Ground of the Quarterland of Koan-droghead aforesaid, commonly called & known in the mother tongue by the name of Magher-ny-gearagh, & bounded on the north & Northeast by Parcels of our own Land, by the Land of John Callister on the South, Robt Callister’s Land in the West & the Sea-bank in the North-West respectively as the said Premises are situated being of such yearly Lord’s Rent as shall be settled thereon by the Sett. Inquest. From us the said Pat Cannell & Mary my wife. To have & to hold unto him the said John Caine his Heirs Execrs Admrs & Assigns the Premes before mentioned with all ways, water, watercourses, easements Liberties & Appurtenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining, commencing from Hollandtide last past for ever as aforesaid paying such annual Lord’s Rent as shall be settled thereon as aforesaid with all other Dues Duties Boons Suits & Services that shall be annually incumbent upon the sd Premises – And whereas the sd Premises hereby demised and alienated were Settled upon me the sd Patrick Cannell without a power to Sell or dispose of the same, I do therefore with the Consent of my wife as aforesd , Covenant to ^& with the sd John Caine, if he should be sued for, & dispossessed of the sd hereby alienated Premes by our Heirs, Execrs, Admrs & Assigns that then He the sd John Caine or his Heirs or Assigns shall have & hold the Parcel of Land called the Close which if the said Patrick Cannell purchased from Thos Cannell on the 20th day of April in the year 1770 & which Deed was attested by the Deemster on the 22nd day of March 1771. To have the sole benefit of it & Advantages of the said Deed in as full & ample a manner as I the sd Patrick Cannell or my Heirs or Assigns could do, & to enjoy the said Premises without any incumbrances whatever further than the Lord’s dues. And we do hereby further Covenant to & with the said John Caine to do & perform at any time hereafter any Act or Acts things or things requisite unnecessary in Law for his or his Heirs better or further Security to the said Premises. And for true performance hereof I the said Patrick Cannell & Mary my wife, do hereby bind & oblige ourselves our Heirs Execrs Admrs and Assigns in & under the Penalty of One hundd Pounds – In witness whereof we have hereunto caused our names & Marks to be subscribed this 14th March 1772-

NB It was agreed on by the Parties before the signing of these Presents that the sd John Caine should have a Rood to the sd Premises on esterly ? by the North side of the Close - ? hedge or lodge ? ??? Pat Cannell should have a Road to the Strand thro the sd Premises, in such place as should least injure the sd John Caine & also a Road to a watering place, if sd Cannell should have no water on his own Land.....
