Re: the Moss family.

Katie (Corjeag) Moss was one of Granny's many neices, she married and went to live for some years in South Africa, where she had four children. Mary, Bessie, Orry and Nora. I don't know very much about their family, except that Bessie was born in Kimberley -- during the siege -- and when they eventually came home, she came to live with my grandparents, and became rather like a sister to my mother, so much so, that when my parents married she was chief bridesmaid, and when I came along a year later "Auntie Bessie" was my godmother.

Ballalona passed in time to Katie, though am not quite sure how this came about. I THINK she was daughter / granddaughter of the last male in the IOM to bear the name Corjeag, though have a feeling it was possibly not direct. Have heard Mother say years gone by that despite the big family, only one of Granny's brothers had a son, and that his wife was unable to have children, and so, sadly, the name died out. From Katie the house passed to Nora, her youngest child, and it is Nora's eldest son who, to the best of my knowledge, still lives there today.

Thelma .
