Unfortunately your son's DNA would not help you. His Y chromosome would have come from HIS father, not yours. It is only sons that get the Y chromosome from their fathers because that is what creates a male. Females don't get a Y chromosome so couldn't pass it on. It is my understanding that other characteristics, such as hair colour, would be attached to other chromosomes and could be inherited from anyone in the direct line.
