Yissir's comment is a point often made by one individual on the old general board (possibly the same individual - maybe Ian is correct in that he feels compelled to scratch old sores) - nothing I have seen in any of the records would bear it out - the Manx were all too well aware of family relationships and being a small community such sins would immediately result in presentment study of such records would possibly throw up one or two cases - there are a few cases of more distant relationships usually involving the wife's side of the family which today would not be thought twice about, but then were treated as incestuous because of the family link made by marriage (classic being dead wife's sister - not legalised until 1920's)
