Re: joke replies

Yissir has obviously found a new amusement - look at the 2 postings he made, nothing re family history but an attempt to use the original posting as the butt of admittedly fairly harmless jokes. However many who post to genealogy B/B's are not used to the noise found on other B/B's (eg I pointed him towards Manxnet where comments such as his are common and newbie posters are often given the electronic equivalent of roughing up in the playground by the established school bully). Given such an unexpected response the original posters think they have said something wrong and reply accordingly, thus often opening themselves up for yet another joke at their expense. Family history is a good pastime (like crosswords it has its across and down clues and generally you finish with some blank spaces) - it can lead on to better understanding of past ages, it can also satisfy the need of many to feel that they have roots somewhere but unless you are in LDS it should not be 'deadly serious' - there is room for jokes etc but one of the attractions of boards like this is that responses are generally helpful and relevant to the point raised - Yessir's are neither.
