Thanks - that referred to 1511/1515 but did prompt me to look again - there was a Hu Cowle down for 18d (a small croft?) in 1686 in same treen as Wm + Elinor - his will is on BL's list - d 4 Mar 1695/6;ch Hu, Jane (elder ch), Tho + Isable(younger ch + jt execs);wife (the crofts) - wife appt supv of ch; inv inc parcel in Ballavilla garey? - this Hu would appear to be a generation or so later than Wm - however there do not appear to be any Cowles in 1636 nor even in 1668 wch would be nearer period for Wm's parents - Santan reg only starts 1690 - Wm + Elinor were married by 1668 thus both were probably born by 1650 and probably earlier as were entered for a considerable ammount of land without note that they were young thus my guess Wm born closer to 1645 or even earlier

There is a m/c for Christopher + Marggt Kermod in Lib Canc in 1629 (that doesn't mean he married in 1629 but at least puts a date by wch he was) - his wife's will was 1647 - Elinor was his gchild thus Margt Brew als Kermot's will might well indicate if Elinor was born by then tho my own guess is she was probably quite young at marriage to Wm
