Social demography was the original driver behind my work on marriage regs etc but I got diverted! - looks to me that males in Braddan(prob Douglas) were looking back to their family parish for wives (possibly brought to their attention by relatives - working on lines that all men of a given age are in want of a wife ..) whereas those women in Braddan had a much larger pool to fish from for husbands than by going back to a rural 'backwater'
