A Manx Notebook has Pigot's Directory, 1823, Ramsey, listings for:
Gill John, joiner & builder.
Gill Robert, vict. and cattle dealer, Plough.
A Robt GILL aged 57, Ramsey, was buried in Maughold Aug 20 1837.
There are Maughold wills from 1837 and from 1840 for Robert Gills.
At first glance they seem unlikely for one of them to be the correct Robert Gill, although it would explain why he doesn't seem to be in the 1841 census, but Braddan is very close to Maughold and many people changed their residence from Maughold to Braddan, or vice versa, or married someone from the other parish.
