Just going over these old posts and saw your question about the second Maria (pronounced Mah Rye Ah) - age 14 in 1870 census). She was the cousin of my great-grand mother and of the same first and last name, Maria Corkill. She was the neice of my great, great grand father Thomas Dick Corkill (the first) who died in 1875. My great, grandmother maried my great grandfather, Simon D. Brott, in 1877, and her cousin Maria married another gentleman, also of McHenry County Illinois, USA. They lived on nearby farms in that county. My great grandmother's cousin is said to have fallen off a wagon and died at a young age - I found that information in a history of McHenry County. My great grandmother died in 1918, and is buried in Ostend Cemetery in McHenry County Illinois, USA.
