I think I answered the question as to Carie and Eugene were. I believe they are Thomas and Mary's grandchildren children of Dau Margaret Galiger.
in the 1870 census, they were with Thomas amd Mary on ! Aug 1870 when the census was taken. On 26 July 1870 they were with their parents. I think they were counted twice. I still don't know who the second Maria age 14 in 1870 is.
