In Response To: Re: Ballaskyrr ()

Hi Phillip, I've spent hours on this, and yes I can give you a direct line toBallaskyr Caines in 19th century.
I have line from Jony Cannell christened1678, who married William Quayle, christened 1677. Read 1711 Articles of their marriage. SSS MNB
William's parents John Quayle and Elinor Corjeage.
Jony's parents William Cannell who married Averick Corlett, 1665 Kirk Michael.
William Cannell's will 1709
Averick Cannell's will 1715.
Jony married William Quayle, Ballaskyrr July 1710.
Their children William, 1712, Jony 1714, Jon born and died 1715, Thomas 1717.
Jony and Thomas were buried August 1725. Smallpox.
Their father William died 1718. His will names his brothers Hugh and John and sisters Catherine and sister Jony who married Patrick Cain as overseers of his young children.
Jony Quayle, als Cannell 's will 1738.
She mentions her two grandaughters, Ellinor and Margaret Quayle, children of her son William (to his first wife, Margaret Shimmin...she died 1738, when Daughter Margt born. Their first daughter, Jony died infancy, born 1734)
William marries his second wife, Elizabeth Lace, in Bride , 1740. She is daughter of Charles Lace (will 1765)
After several daughters, there must have been great joy when William, the heir was born 1752. He died 1758, In Burial Register, William son of William, Ballaskyrr'.
two more daughters followed.
William Quayle died 1781 (will)
Elizabeth Quayle 's will 1784.
Marriage contract 1766, between William Cain, snr, Glanwillan o.b.o. only son William Cain and Ellinor Quayle
William Quayle with consent of his second wife, Elizabeth Lace, o.b.o. eldest daughter Ellinor, to marry.
Quayles who have no male issue, Ellinor heiress, to settle half the estate of BALLASKYR, free of all morgages except one.
Latter half of estate reserved to support Wm's second wife in her widowhood.
Ellinor Caine, nee Quayle, will 1774. MNB
William Caine of Ballaskyrr will 1784. MNB

All their children had died as infants except one, John , christened Dec. 1767.

I have the M.I.s for the CAINES, from the Churchyard, handwritten...but they are all in the Michael M.I. Book.
I've also looked up John Caine 1881 census, (loads of info) and John Caine in1841 Census, says aged 92...but I think he's exagerating!!!
You can follow the line through census info.
The John Caine died 1890, aged 83 left a will
Widiw Eliza died 1898.
Also interred in that grave is William Cain, Ballaskyrr, aged 34, died March 1784,buried with eight of his children.

A flat stone reads Sacred to Memory of John Caine of BALLASKYR, died June1830, aged 71 yrs
Also Jane, wife of Thomas Cowin, daughter of John CAINE, died march 1937, aged 80 years.

Having done all this...I'm no further forward looking for the William Quayle, BALLASKYRR, who married Mary Knickle.....I'd always thought it was the William, born 1752 to Eliz. Lace...I was distraught when I read of his death in 1858!!!! Time for bed I think..... Hope this helps ypu.
