Adrienne: William Quayle, Ballaskyr and Elizabeth Lace are my ancestors. Donna has been giving me a lot of help with Quayles and Caines, but we could not find how Ballaskyr passed from the Quayles to the Caines. Now you tell us that William was married before, to Margaret Shimmin, who gave him a daughter Ellinor, who married William Caine in 1764. Donna tells us (19/10/2012) that this last couple had an only surviving child John, bapt 1767. You say that from then on (i.e. from 1764) Ballaskyrr was owned by Caines.

Can you trace the line of Caines Ballaskyr into the 19th century, and in particular to John Caine, Ballaskyr (1806-1890) who married Eliza Radcliffe at Andreas in 1848?

NB I wanted to spell the name of the farm without the a, but eventually discovered that that was what was bringing down the barrier of naughty language. Perhaps others have found that too.
