I am suggesting the following two families for the children of Hugh Caine and Mary Kneen (Thomas and Eleanor) who are mentioned in their wills as being in America. I would very much appreciate any corrections/additions to this information. (I have information on subsequent generations, as well as documentation, should anyone wish to have it.)

(1) Thomas Caine family of Warrensville, and Newburgh

1840 census Not yet located

1850 Warrensville census # 3230: Thomas Cain 75 farmer IOM; Jane 66 IOM

Thomas Caine was born about 1775. (Is he the son of Hugh Caine and Mary Kneen?) He is probably the Thomas Caine of Newburgh, age 86, who died of “old age”, buried at Woodland Cemetery, February 9, 1859. He married, at Lezayre, January 29, 1804, Jane Stephens, who was born about 1786, and died in Cleveland, August 9, 1868, age 82.
Thomas and Jane Caine came to Warrensville in 1832. They lived in Warrensville

i. Jane Cain was christened March 1, 1805. (died young?)

+ ii. Patrick Cain was christened April 10, 1808. He married, March 13, 1841, Margaret Quayle.

iii. Mary Cain was christened February 27, 1811. (Mary Cain, to Warrensville in 1832.) Is she the Mary Cain buried at, died July 1842, age 31? Woodland Cemetery Section 8, Lot 6.

+ iv. ?Catherine Cain was born about 1814. She married, in Cuyahoga County, February 20, 1836, Robert Cowley. See Robert Cowley family of Cleveland.

+ v. Margaret Cain was christened September 15, 1816. Margaret married, May 21, 1842, Edward Mathews. She died in Warrensville, November 21, 1883, age 67, “Margaret wife of Edward Mathews”. Edward Mathews died January 1, 1894, age 77. Buried Woodland Cemetery.

+ vi. Thomas Cain was christened April 18, 1819, and died February 2, 1903, age 83, at his residence in Warrensville. Thomas Cain married, January 31, 1847, Jane Kerruish (indexed as “Karnish”). Jane was the daughter of William and Jane (Kelly) Kerruish, b IOM about 1825.

vii. Daniel Cain was christened January 30, 1821, and died of consumption, in Middlebury?, March 1, 1865, age 44.

+ viii. Jane E. Cain was christened January 12, 1822, and died March 4, 1907, age 84. Jane Cain married first, William Kelley. They lived in Orange Township. William Kelley died December 9, 1863, age 63. Buried Woodland Cemetery. See William Kelley family of Newburg, p 439.

Jane married second, December 12, 1869, Starks Edwards. Jane was widowed by the 1880 census.

Mrs. Jane Edwards, “formerly Mrs. Jane Kelly late of Warrensville,” died of arterio sclerosis, March 4, 1907 age 84.

viii. Philip Cain was christened March 24, 1825. Is he Philip Cain, shoemaker, at 31 Ontario St, 1848 Cleveland City Directory?

Chili, left Liverpool May 30, 1827, and arrived in New York July 7, 1827: William Corlett 39, Eleanor 37, Wm 17, Mary 15, John 11,Thos 9, Charles 6, Jane 4, Eleanor 2.

1830 Newburg census William Corlett: 1 male 5-10 (Charles 10); 2 males 10-15 (John 15, Thomas 13); 1 male 15-20 (William 20); 1 male 40-50 (William 48); 1 female under 5 (Eliza 0-1); 1 female 5-10 (Jane 8); 1 female 30-40 (Eleanor 40) [Where is Mary Ann, 18?

1840 Newburg census William Corlett: 2 males 20-30 (Charles 20, Thomas 23, or John 25); 1 male 50-60 (William 58); 1 female 10-15 (Eliza 10); 1 female 15-20 (Jane 18); 1 female 50-60 (Eleanor 50).

1850 Newburg census # 2897: W. A. Corlett 68 farmer IOM; Eleanor 60 IOM; Jane 26 IOM; Eliza Jane 8 Ohio [Is she the daughter of William Corlett and Christian Boyd?].

William Corlett was born about 1789. He married, at Kk Michael, June 17, 1809, Eleanor Caine, daughter of Hugh Caine and Mary Kneen. She was baptized at Kk Michael, January 18, 1789.

William and Eleanor Corlett settled in Newburg.

+ i. William Corlett was born about 1810. He married first Christian Boyd. He married second Ann (Avery) Parsons.

+ ii. Mary Ann Corlett was christened June 17, 1812, and died April 17, 1889, in her 77th year, at the residence of her daughter Mrs. George Beebe. “Widow of John Gill”. She married, in Cleveland, August 28, 1833, John Gill. See family of John Gill, p. 387.

iii. John Corlett was christened October 8, 1815. Is he John Corlett, died of consumption, September 13, 1870, age 54?

iv. Thomas Corlett (Rev. Thomas Corlett) was christened September 28, 1817, and died August 30, 1889, age 72, at his residence 819 Bolton Ave. Thomas Corlett attended Oberlin College and Kenyon Theological College, and was an ordained minister. Went to Baraboo, Wisconsin (1857), but returned to Cleveland. He married Mary H. _____. Children: Ellen E. Corlett; Charles P. Corlett was born June 18, 1864, and died June 8, 1908. Buried East Cleveland Cemetery.

+ v. Charles E. Corlett was christened February 27, 1820. He married Priscilla Bowill. Priscilla, wife of the late Charles Corlett, died July 10, 1901.

vi. Jane S. Corlett was christened November 17, 1822, and died at Collamer, Ohio, May 21, 1882. She married, at Newburg, May 1, 1851, Henry Clarke. In 1880, she was living with Mary Ann Gill.

vii. Elinor Corlett was christened December 5, 1824. Died young?

viii. Eliza M. Corlett died of consumption, January 14, 1865, “in her 85th year” (sic), age 35. She married, in Cuyahoga County, February 22, 1858, Oliver E. Beach. Buried April 19, 1868. Oliver Beach was a merchant in Cleveland.
