Re: Swimming achievements
In Response To: Re: Swimming achievements ()

Hi Sylvia,

July 5, 1978 is the date that newspaper reporter, Neil Morton, wrote the article in the Liverpool Echo about my grandfather, "Professor J.O. Matchett" and his son Percy Matchett: under the heading "MEN WHO CHALLENGED THE MURKY MERSEY". If anyone can find the archives of that date from the Liverpool Echo, perhaps you could help Sylvia find the date of the actual photos that were used in the article, specifically Sylvia is looking for the one of Professor Matchett in his swimsuit with some of his many medals attached to the front of it.

In that same article it says that Percy "relaunched" the BARRACUDA swimming club after it had folded. I don't know how long this club had been in existence prior to Percy's relaunching of it. Perhaps if anyone can find out its history, then Sylvia can find out where the letter "B" on the swimsuit of the man she is searching for, originated - perhaps it was from the Barracude swim club - maybe there were branches of the Barracuda swim club in other locations.

I hope that this will produce some results for you, Sylvia.

Kindest regards and good luck,
Penny
