Hi Sonja
Thomas Kneen and Cath Killip, parents of John Kneen b 1782, and of Philip Kneen b 1794, both farmers at Dollough in 1841 and 1851, also had a son, Thomas b 1788, all at Ballaugh.
I believe that this Thomas Kneen b 1788 is the 50 yr old weaver at Dollough Beg in 1841 (see notes below).
Now looking at Thomas Kneen b 1852, Clerk of the Rolls, we find him in 1861 with 3 generations of Kneens (father and grandfather also called Thomas)
Tracing the older Thomas (grandfather of TK Clerk of the Rolls) back to 1851 and the 1841, he's a farmer, age 52 in 1841.
So my guess is that TK (C of R) is not a grandson of the TK b 1788 who was a brother of JK b 1782 (probable father of your William). However, it's possible that they were related from an earlier generation.
