Hi Sonja

Below is the 1841 IOM census which 2 people with trees on Ancestry say is the William Kneen, tailor, who is outlined in the Liverpool censuses above. But this 1841 census entry can't be your William Kneen who married Jane Rowan, because this one seems to have a father, William, who was a blacksmith, and also, your William Kneen was already married to Jane Rowan before the 1841 census.

1841
Andreas 3/1

Name Age
William Kneen 50
Ann Kneen 50
William Kneen 25
John Kneen 20
Ann Kneen 15
Philip Kneen 15
Edward Kneen 12
Elizabeth Kneen 8
James Kneen 7
Catharine Kneen 4

(William 50 blacksmith and William 25 tailor)

These 2 people say that the Wm Kneen, tailor, who is living in Liverpool through the censuses from 1851 onwards, married Jane McGeary in Liverpool in 1843. Perhaps they don't know that there was an earlier marriage of a William Kneen, tailor, to a Jane Rowan, because it doesn't show up in Ancestry's version of BMD due to a mistranscription:

Did you get the maiden name of Jane from the birth certificate of one of her children ? If so, which child, and what exactly does the certificate say ? It would help if you would set out all the details from all the certificates you have for William and his children.

There's some conflicting information on the 2 trees I've mentioned, and it would be a good thing to help them correct any wrong assumptions they've made.

PS Both the trees have William's parents as John Kneen and Ann Cowin, but without any supporting evidence. I found a JK/AC marriage in the IGI but have no idea whether it may be relevant to you:
