Re: Charles Lewin/Isabella Cain(e)

Hi Donna. David explained that he didn't research the Lewin/Cain family other than noting where they lived. His interest was in the first family of the woman who married (as a widow) James Joseph Lewin.

Charles LEWIN & Isabella CAIN(E) gave erratic ages in censuses - I put them all on the thread. Isabella was consistent with b.Braddan, and Charles was b.German in 1851 & 1861. He was younger than his wife in most censuses. They disappeared between 1871 and 1881 and the younger of the grandchildren who had been living with them was living in 1881 with their youngest son Jacob b.1850.
The Braddan burial reg (FHS) has a Charles Lewin aged 69, Kk Marown, Dec.22 1877, but the only possible Isabella Lewin I saw in that register was 75 yrs Kk Santon Aug 24 1880. There was an Isabella Lewin of Braddan in BL's index bur 7 Jan 1873 but her age was given as 90 - too old to have had Jacob in 1850.
There is only one poss bapt on the IGI that I saw for Charles Lewin - 25 Feb.1807 St George, Douglas s/o Charles Lewin & Philpher Kneal (but he said he was b in German). There are several for Isabel/Isabella CAIN(E) including Matts Cain & Ellinor LEWIN Onchan (1804), Matthias Cain & Isabel Fayle Marown (1803), Thos Caine & Anne Kelly Braddan (1805), & Wm Caine & Elinor Quine Braddan (1806). You might be able to exclude some of these?
