Comish Help Please

I apologise in advance if this message is long!

I'd like some help if at all possible to confirm the birth and parentage of: DOROTHY ELIZABETH COMISH. This is my friend's grandmother.

It's a long and complicated story of 2 generations of illegitimacy, but I'll try to be brief.

My understanding from Dorothy's stepfather's army papers (dated 1917) is that she was born 11 April 1905 in Ramsey. I can find no birth that matches on manxbmd. I've tried births of all surnames (in case she was registered with her father's surname) and in all places on IOM in 1905 and can't find her anywhere.

I believe her to be the illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth or Eliza Comaish/Comish, who later married Thomas Cain at Braddan Church on 26 Oct 1910 (Ref 1212/450).

(As aside, my friend was surprised at this marriage being C of E, as the family to her knowledge have always been Roman Catholic)

Thomas and Elizabeth are at 33 Hope Street, Douglas on 1911 census, but no young Dorothy with them. I cant find her anywhere on the 1911 census either on the island or the mainland, and wonder if she's with her father and his family, using their surname - which of course I don't know. She does not appear to be with whom I believe to be her maternal grandfather Edward Comish/Comaish, who was widowed before 1901 census (wife was Catherine Esther Kelly/Killey), but is on 1911, but with no Dorothy in the household.

Dorothy's believed mother, Elizabeth Cain nee Comaish/Comish died in late 1918 or early 1919 at Douglas (Vol A, Page 1835), age 36yrs.

Dorothy had an illegitimate son on the island in 1927, and gave her name as Dorothy Elizabeth Comish then. she was a Launderess.

Dorothy lived and worked for a lot of her adult life in Bradford, married there in 1939 and died there in 1947. she had

If anyone can give any pointers or suggestions, they'd be most gratefully received. My friend and I are hoping to visit the island later this year to progress the research into her family, but it would be wonderful to make some progress before we get there!

Many thanks in advance.
