Hi - I think thats right. It looks like William Curphey married twice, first wife Isabella Dougherty abt 1864. He had some children with her shown on the 1871 census. Later, William is then shown on the 1881 IOM census as living with Lizzie, aged 23 and 2 more children Edith J and Robert L. In 1891 there are even more.
If you decide to join the IOMFHS, Pat Nicholson has a lot of info re this family.
The Spencers were originally from Brassington in Derbyshire. I have traced them right back.
It seems they left Derbyshire in the early 1830's and came to the Isle of Man. Other names linked with the Spencers in Derbyshire are Lomas and Buxton.
I am researching the family back in Leyayre. There are so many Curgheys from the area it is very hard to get back before 1700. There could be links between the different Curghey families but I can't prove them.
