I think the Curphey you are trying to find is Robert Curphey a fishmonger from Douglas. His WW1 service record shows him in 1914 aged 35 yrs 2 months of 16, Nelson Street, Douglas. This would make him about the right age you are looking for. His wifes name was Isa nee Arkin. m 1899. Childrens names are listed, born between 1900 and 1914. John Edward seems to be Ted, the oldest b 1900. The names are the same as you listed. He was discharged suffering from Bronchitis. The address he returned to was 46, Market Street, Douglas.
I think that this Robert Curphey was the son of William Curphey and Lizzie. William was b c 1842 and Lizzie b c1858. (William being the brother of Robert who married Mary Spencer.) He is listed as Robert L curphey. I have some further info I will look up for you. This may help you in the meantime.
