It's another avenue to explore. I am also looking to try and find the mother of Matthias Kewley - I know the father is Philip but I'm not sure of the mother. Matthias was born Onchan in 1790 so it may be worth a look for marriage contract for his parents. Is the contract recorded in both names? It is possible that Catherine Kelly is his wife - but I have no proof that she is the mother of Matthias. I suspect there was no money in the family so would that mean there would not be a marriage contract? Thanks very much for your advice anyway. It is appreciated. Viv
