Heaney/Hainey/Hennan/Heeney

Hi All

I wonder if any of you with access to information I obviously can't get at could help......

My GG Grandmother, Sarah Heaney, was born in Maughold in 1864.

I have been unable to trace back from her, so sent for her birth cert, hoping to then have the parent's names, which would start me off again, however....

No record found at civil registries for either birth or baptism.

So - as I know for certain she married Thomas Henry Starkey 13th June 1893, I applied for the marriage cert. This names her father as Robert Heaney Labourer (deceased) So - he died somewhere between 1864 and 1893 - in IoM. or did he return to Ireland, or to Eng maybe, looking for work?

I have tried through Brian's site, Ancestry.co and LDS, but can find nothing to definitely suggest I have found my Robert Heaney. It could be that he was born in Ireland, and I could go that route, however, so far I have nothing concrete enough to know whether I would have found the right RH.

This is all further complicated by the fact that there seems to be so many spellings for Heaney - Sarah's baptism for example. is spelt HAINEY, (LDS site - Mother: Margaret, Father: Robert) and as she and Thomas produced children, her former name is spelt in different ways: HEENEY, HENNAN.

From Ancestry.co census info I have located a Robert Heaney, b. about 1821 married to Margaret, with a daughter Margaret in 1861, and in 1851, possibly same Robert as the 1861 one (as b. about 1821 also) as a lodger in Braddan, listed as married (but no wife named at the property at that time)

Any info any of you could find, even a suggestion of where to look next, would be very gratefully received!

Regards
Maggie
