Leslie Quilliam's "Surnames of the Manks" certainly suggests that the Lace name is of Manx origins. Records going back to 1411 show the origin of the name and a Runic gravestone suggests a form of the name going to Viking times. My searches including those of Lancashire suggest the name is not widespread outside of the island, and even there there is commonly a connection to the IOM.
