Description

The aim of the members of this all-male club was the promotion of business and political affairs in Douglas in a convivial context. The Isle of Man Examiner of 26 April 1890 reported that forty members of the club attended the annual dinner at the Granville Hotel followed by toasts supporting the Queen and Royal family, the Lieutenant -Governor and Legislature, the Bar, the Douglas Town Commissioners, the Town and Trade of Douglas, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. Musical entertainment was enjoyed before the 'very pleasant gathering terminated about one o'clock, a.m.'
