A company under the title of The Douglas Choral Union according to the Manx Sun of 24 January, 1863, performed in the Victoria Hall, Prospect Hill, [Douglas], afterwards the Gaiety Theatre. It is not known how long the company was in existence.' Cubbon's Bibliography vol. i.,p. 127 The Soiree Musicale of 'good music well rendered' with proceeds to the Hospital and House of Industry is reported and criticised in detail. The Choral Union gave notice of a concert of sacred and secular music in aid of the St. Thomas' Industrial Schools in Easter week. See also Douglas Choral Union, 1896-ongoing
