This parish-centred Friendly Society has left a copy of the fifth version of its Code of articles for regulating the Kirk Michael Friendly Society established on the eleventh of June 1810, dated 1859, but no other records of its operation are known.
A standard men's society, based in a prosperous parish and brought up-to-date with a sliding scale of payments according to age of members in the amended rules of 1859, the society, senior to its two later Michael rivals, the Mona Jonadab Tent of Rechabites (founded 1837) and the Loyal St. Michael Order of Oddfellows (founded 1869), the 'Old Man's Club', whose prominent and stylish anniversary celebrations are described in the Manx National Heritage Folk-Life Survey, performed well and was able to continue its functions beyond 1879 when it was recorded as active in the 1879 Medical Aid and Poor Relief Commission Report.
